About Martine

Martine has always been passionate about food from a very young age since her family moved from Jamaica to Asia.  Having grown up in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and later settling in British Columbia, Canada, she appreciates her unique experience in the cultural and culinary diversity of the East and West!

“It is far more important to know what person the disease has than what disease the person has.”  ~  Hippocrates

During her adult years, Martine struggled with anxiety and panic attacks, and since the birth of her third child, food allergies and sensitivities, in which she found very little relief from conventional treatment.  Her own personal battle with caring for her son with eczema and severe food allergies, and later her own, led her into researching natural and alternative treatments.  With the use of natural supplements, medicinal herbs, energy medicine and other natural modalities in holistic wellness, Martine has since been able to manage and control her condition, and that of her son, symptom free!  Through her experience, she hopes to help others living with similar health challenges, to live stronger and healthier lives.

“You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a nutritional deficiency.” ~ Dr. Linus Pauling

Being a passionate writer on nutrition and wellness topics, Martine hopes to inspire others to lead healthy, vibrant and productive lives. She is especially interested in the digestive system, food allergies and sensitivities, and homeopathy, and continues to update her knowledge and education in these areas.

Martine graduated with first class honors from The Institute of Holistic Nutrition (IHN) in Toronto, Ontario, and holds the exclusive designation of Certified Nutritional Practitioner (CNP) with the Certified Nutritional Practitioners Council of Canada (CNPCC).

Martine believes in looking at the person as a whole – body, mind, spirit and environment.  She believes in finding the root cause of symptoms and in alleviating illnesses through natural means.  Through her knowledge and expertise, she encourages healing from within while strengthening the body.

“Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open.”  ~B.K.S. Iyengar
